Work on the relationship of the avian embryo and helminths is reviewed with emphasis on studies of trematodes maintained on the chorioallantoic membrane of the domestic chick. The use of the chick chorioallantois to study intraspecific variation, feeding and digestion, cercarial and metacercarial development, behavior, regeneration and repair of damage, chemotherapy, surface interrelationships, and temperature tolerance of trematodes is discussed.
